A right to have fun

so happy to be back - uh-huh

Wow this is a new experience. At the moment Mr and I are still homeless. This is entirely because Mr is so depressed at being here he has refused to look for an apartment for us. I would be the same way, but we've only got two weeks we can stay in his stepfather's house and then...... we'll have to be real grown-ups again. So I did impress upon him yesterday evening that we simply HAD to find something. ACtually it might have been the night before. Anyway. We'll see. But anyway the new experience is actually the commute to work. Maaaaaaaaaaan.
It is horrendous.
I had forgotten, in 2 1/2 years away that people just cram themselves into trains and subways like total zombies. They even discovered in some study in the newspaper the other day that people switch their brains off or something to forget the entire journey. So that makes 2 hours of your day lost.
or more.
Anyway it is such a big spread-out city and the people are horrible and it is noisy and dirty and everyone eats too much all the time and drinks too much all the time and there are announcements coming at you over the loudspeakers every second about where to go, what to do.. It is like some city of the future, only without Tokyo's grooviness. Tokyo manages it. They are millions packed in, and yet it is neither noisy nor unpleasant at rushour. Well, unpleasant. But somehow it all moves along. Whereas here it is dirty and sad, and the infrastructure breaks down all the time.
